I have had an opportunity to visit our new website and want to express my feelings.
As I posted the blog previous to this one I CARE about this fellowship and as so many
of you have invested in it, I have as well. It is because of our investgment that we care so much.
I actually expected something a little different and would have liked to have seen something with a little more cutting edge design, different style, color or maybe something that would appeal to a younger generation but thats my opinion. It seems like a lot of text on many of the pages and not sure if many will take time to read all of it however I appreciate the change and compared to many organizational sites I have seen ours is a major step up.
I want to express my appreciation to our leadership for seeing the need to advance our media in all areas and making available many of the new features that were added such as on-line giving n such. Change is not always asy but necessary and appreciated!
I appreciate many of the changes which include not only our web-site but our messenger magazine and so much more.
What are some of the changes that you have noticed and that excite you?

ReplyDeleteFor the record I have made a few adjustments to this post as in my desire to express some things, I feel it may have been met with a negative tone.
ReplyDeletePlease forgive me if that was the case. I see our leadership making changes and believe in and support our leadership.
May God continue to bless this fellowship as we step out in new and better ways.
Our leaders are doing well with the lot they've been dealt -- debt, aging computer systems, loss of intellectual property (web programming written by a company that went belly-up), declining membership and funds, and, moreover, the monumental task of trying to bring about positive change in a short two-year term.
ReplyDeleteIt's always easy sit back and think of ways that we think we would have done things different.
Truth be told, the stress of the care of the churches alone might be enough to paralyze mere mortals such as ourselves.
As for the web site, the current one looks better than the previous, and that one looked better than the one before that.
Progress is being made.
I still don't know if I have any right to comment on this site, but I did find a link to the NPN from the new pcg.org site, so I assume the trend is towards inclusion, not exclusion.
Now if we can just get the link to pcgeye2eye.net to say something other than "Bishop Charles Scott's blog site", I'll be happier. :-)

ReplyDeletesorry bro, I was just following directions. what would you like the link to say?
Calling it Bishop Scott's blog is a bit of a misnomer as Bishop Scott is not the sole contributor. (By the way I was equally surprised by the similar blurb in the Jan Messenger -- neither the Messenger ad nor the listing on pcg.org correspond to the mission/vision/strategy statement that Bishop Scott provided in the beginning).
ReplyDeleteIf it were me, I might code that page to read:
Visit PCG Eye 2 Eye - Articles and Discussion-starters about everything PCG.
Visit Navigational Pastors Network - Conversations among a group of up-and-coming PCG pastors.
Caveat: Both of the above labels come mostly from my own perceptions.
With pcgeye2eye, I do have a copy of Bishop Scott's 8-page powerpoint listing the mission/vision/... for the site, so I know it's intended to be much, much more than the Bishop's daily blog site.
My sense of the NPN, based entirely upon early postings, is that it's a gathering place for the pastors that were invited to a NPN meeting in Oklahoma.
I just now clicked "randallkentjr" and realized that randallkentjr is really Randy Lawrence, Jr, one of the team members for pcgeye2eye.net.
ReplyDeleteSo, Randy, you should have a copy of Bishop Scott's powerpoint (the one named strategic_planning_eye_2_eye.ppt), and I suspect I told you something you already knew -- that the site was to be more than just the bishop's personal blog site.
By the way, when will you bless us with a pcgeye2eye contrib of your own? :-)
Also, I just discovered your "followtheimpact" site. I signed up as a follower so I can see the postings as soon as they start arriving.
God speed!
thanks ken....that sounds great. I will run everything by Bishop and see what he wants. I think it is a great description. We are getting ready to launch our follow-the-impact blog site where I along with others (like Joe & Teena) will be sharing/blogging daily, we are really excited! As far as the eye2eye, i guess I misunderstood, I thought we were going to be told when to blog...so my bad.
