Go SpeedRacer!

I had a recent experience of a lifetime. About one hundred people from our church came out to see me in a stock car race. I was only the passenger; but what a thrill. The driver leads our Raceway Ministry. He prays with the racers and pit crews every Saturday night before the races begin. We have a biker ministry; and, of course our recovery ministry is the fastest growing ministry in the church. How are you reaching people in "outside the box" ways?

  1. We just branched out into a couple of new things that our church is absolutely loving, but it has ticked a few off. The best i understand scripture, Jesus hung out and went where the sinners were.

We just recently started a Designated Driver program. We printed cards put them in 5 bars in our city on Friday/Saturday night. the card says, "if you drank too much, give us a call for a free ride home". Our people love driving drunk people home until 2am when the bars close.

Another door that just opened for us, we wanted to serve a homecooked meal to some local strip clubs. We approached the owners and just had one that accepted our offer. So beginning next month we will take a homecooked meal on Friday nights @ midnight to serve all the strippers & bouncers a homecooked meal.

I love doing things "outside the box". Get this, we had 3 grandmaws over 65 yrs. old sign up to cook & serve homecooked meals to strippers. Oh Yea, babe.

  2. Jeff,
We are always looking for ways to be effective whether new, old, traditional etc. I personally love doing things nobody else is doing and things that go beyond the norm.

    Eddie, love your passion bro!!!!!!!!

We are actually planning our annual Halloween Community Connection. We have numerous families who allow us to use their homes as connecting stations. We will place 12-15 volunteers at each house in the driveway w/ outdoor fire places and food for the workers. The kids participate in handing out candy to the trick or treaters and the adults pass out coffee, hot chocolate etc to the adults. We usually have crowds around our houses all night long and are asked "who are all these people" and the door opens to share and invite. Each year we touch about 1500 to 2000 people and have had numerous families come as a result. This year we will be using this night to pass out tickets (www.nextdayflyers.com) to join us the next morning at church for a day of comedy w/ professional comedian Scott Wood. Scott is incredibly funny and has a testimony he shares following his stand up routine.
